The Heritage Center offers various fitness classes to meet almost everyone’s needs. For further information regarding the Heritage Center fitness classes, or to enroll call Sandy Terwilliger at 913-327-8046.

Visiting Nurse
A nurse from the VNA will be at the Heritage Center on Wednesday, August 4 from 9:15 - 11 am to take a finger stick glucose test and blood pressure. For the glucose test, you must fast at least 2 hours before. You can have water or black coffee. Appointments are not required.

T'ai Chi Qi Gong
Plan to attend a new T’ai Chi Qi Gong class offered Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:00 -10:00 am beginning July 12. Gain freedom from potential falls as you use the 24 movements to increase your balance and flexibility. Instructor Vada Mae Eder will help you to live a more flowing and healthful life. The class is easy to follow and beginners are not only welcomed but encouraged! Class will be held in the Multi Activity Room, located across the hall from the Heritage Center. Wear comfortable clothes (elastic waist band) and shoes. Cost is $30.00 to complete 10 classes in six weeks. Any questions? Call 913-327-8046.

Gentle Pilates
We are pleased to continue to offer a Gentle Pilates class. This forty five minute class is offered Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11:00 am in Studio Two. Pilates is an ordered series of exercises that work the entire body from top to bottom. Have you fallen and had trouble getting up? Have you noticed a sore neck and shoulders? Have you had trouble with low back pain and joint stress? Have you felt like you can't bend to get in and out of your car? If you answered yes to any of these questions then you need Gentle Pilates! Cost for 10 classes is $25.00, (non-refundable). Please call 913-327-8046 to reserve a spot. Beginners or skeptics encouraged!

Yoga in Chairs Class
This class offers participants the opportunity to reap the benefits of yoga without getting on the floor. This free class is offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30-10:15 with yoga instructor Andrea Nelson in Dance Studio One.

Don't wait for your ship to come in: Swim to it!
Come and enjoy the multiple benefits of water exercise! The benefits of exercising in the water are many! Aquatic exercise not only enhances your cardiovascular fitness, but it also can improve your muscular endurance and overall strength. Because water provides buoyancy and support for the body, the likelihood of muscle, bone and joint injuries is significantly reduced when exercise is performed in the water. Instructor Bonnie Pennington leads this free class every Tuesday and Thursday at 1:00 pm. Please call 913-327-8046 for more information.

One Hour Total Fitness
One Hour Total Fitness is a conditioning class working on muscle strength & endurance balance and flexibility. Bring a bottle of water, wear comfortable shoes and clothes. Six weeks to complete 10 classes. This one hour class is offered on Monday and Wednesday at 11 am. Cost for 10 one hour classes is $25.00. Call 913-237-8046 to reserve your spot.

Kinesis
Kinesis is an alternative form of personal training with an emphasis on controlled movements developing strength, balance, flexibility and cardiovascular fitness. Core muscles work as an integrated unit, balancing strength gains across all of the involved muscles. Class wil take place in the brand new Kinesis Suite in the Center for Health and Human Performance. Try one class at no charge! You may choose to attend class on Friday at 11:00 or 11:30 am. Cost for 10, thirty-minute classes is $25.00. Call 913-237-8046 to reserve your spot. Space is limited. Fees are non-refundable.
