Winter Weather Policy

CDC Weather Policy
When both the Blue Valley and Shawnee Mission Schools are closed due to inclement weather, the CDC opens at 9:00 A.M. for Critically-Needed Care only. Please keep your child home if at all possible. Due to long distances and dangerous travel conditions we often have a shortage of teachers on these days. Check office numbers for information: 913-327-8050, 913-327-8051, 913-327-8052.

SCHOOL AGE CHILDREN SNOW DAYS
A snow day program will be offered when Blue Valley and Shawnee Mission Schools are closed and may be staffed by any available CENTER staff who can get here!

We will offer critically needed care from 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM at a cost of $25/child & $35/child for non-members. Payment at the Front Desk is required for participation. Each child needs to bring a dairy or non-meat lunch. Call Nandita Jana's phone 913-327-8098 after 6:45 AM to check if critically needed care will be available before bringing your child to the CENTER. There are no refunds or make-up days for snow closings. Children do not need to be part of the Kids Konnection program to attend on a Snow Day.

Early Bird care is not available on a Snow Day. You may not drop your child (ren) off before 9:00 AM. Snow days are unstructured days (they do not follow afterschool activity schedules).

If weather conditions do not worsen, Late Bird care would be available from 3:30 - 6:00 PM for $5.00/child; however, in extreme weather, the CENTER may close early.

If the weather warrants a CENTER closing, we will call you to pick up your child as soon as possible. The CENTER does not call the media regarding the availability critically needed care on snow days.
